data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><em>Scipionyx samniticus<\/em>, nicknamed <strong>Ciro<\/strong>, was discovered in 1981 by a fossil enthusiast in Pietraroja (Benevento) and is one of the most famous Italian fossils in the world.<\/p><p>This dinosaur, a <strong>predatory theropods<\/strong>, lived about <strong>113 million years ago<\/strong> and is notable for its <strong>exceptional<\/strong> state of\u00a0 <strong>preservation.<\/strong> Its rapid burial shortly after death has, in fact, preserved some of its <strong>soft tissues<\/strong> and <strong>internal organs<\/strong>, including neck muscles, cartilage, the liver (in part), the intestines, the trachea, and some blood vessels.\u00a0<\/p><p>A full-scale <strong>\u201cpaleo-autopsy\u201d<\/strong> was conducted on Ciro, allowing researchers to reconstruct numerous details about his age and diet. Questo dinosauro, appartenente al gruppo dei teropodi, visse circa 113 milioni di anni fa e si distingue per il suo eccezionale stato di\u00a0 conservazione. Il suo rapido seppellimento subito dopo la morte ha infatti preservato parte dei tessuti molli e degli organi interni, tra cui i muscoli del collo, le cartilagini, il fegato (in parte), l&#8217;intestino, la trachea e alcuni vasi sanguigni.\u00a0 Su Ciro \u00e8 stata condotta una vera e propria \u201cpaleo-autopsia\u201d grazie alla quale gli studiosi hanno ricostruito numerosi dettagli sulla sua et\u00e0 ed alimentazione. Le dimensioni minute, le proporzioni corporee tipiche di un esemplare neonatale, le ampie orbite e la mancata sostituzione dei denti indicano che Ciro non aveva probabilmente ancora compiuto dieci giorni di vita al momento della morte. Anche i resti degli ultimi pasti sono rimasti intatti: all&#8217;interno del suo apparato digerente sono state rinvenute parti di lucertole e di pesci, suggerendo che i genitori potrebbero aver smembrato le prede per nutrire il piccolo, segno di una possibile cura parentale.
