Osteoderm

Bone deposits that form scales, plates or other structures on the dermis.

Osteoderms are found in many groups of living reptiles and amphibians, such as lizards, crocodiles, frogs, various groups of dinosaurs (tra cui I più famosi sono gli anchilosauri e gli stegosauri) e altri gruppi di rettili e anfibi extint groups of reptiles and amphibians such as temnospondyls, phytosaurs, aetosaurs, and placodonts.
