Virtual palaeontology

Interdisciplinary approach to palaeontology that uses digital technologies for data acquisition, visualization, and 3D modeling to study fossils and artifacts without directly handling the physical specimens.

It uses tools such as computed tomography (CT and micro-CT) , 3D scanning, the photogrammetry, the digital modeling and virtual reconstructions and simulations aimed at analyzing the morphology, internal structure, function, and evolution of fossil organisms in a non-invasive manner, while also enabling thereconstruction of missing parts, the simulation of movements, the sharing of digital models and the creation of immersive environments.
